1. VALVe ‘EARLY ACCESS’ [GeekyGadgets.com]
We now have another reason to hail Valve as the best name in gaming; project “early access” will give Steam users the ability to buy a game still in the beta stages. Much like Mojang did with Minecraft, this will give fans the ability to play while the game is being developed!
2. DEADISLAND2 STORY [trailer]
DI1 was a near-perfect zombie experience (aside from too many useless/annoying quests) so I wasn’t that interested in a sequel. But seeing how the characters are now being brought back into an ongoing storyline…I’m interested!
3. KOJIMA CONSPIRACY
Now, I haven’t paid attention to the whole FOXHOUND storyline since MetalGear3, but, I’m one of those gamers that’s been on the sidelines watching the story unfold…and this interests me!
First there was the [trailer] back in 09.12 announcing the return of Solid in MGS:GroundZeroes (before MetalGear:Revengeance even hit shelves).
Then at the SpikeGameAwards there was the haunting [trailer] for an unknown game called “Phantom Pain” (that people immediately started calling a new MG game).
Now IGN has posted an interview with an alleged star from PP in which he “accidentally” leaked a connection to MGS…some are even speculating that the interview itself was faked using CGI (I think it gets crazier than that…) you can checkout all their thoughts on it [here].
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS? Or are you like me, and have completely lost track of the whole MetalGear time/storyline?
1. ABRAMS + VALVE = HALIFE? [IGN.com]
At today’s DICE summit JJ and VALVe head Gabe Newell hit the stage to talk about how they both hope to one day collaborate on videogames AND movies…
2. MORE STARWARS SPINOFFS [ew.com]
Turns out that Han Solo and Boba Fett will be joining Yoda with their own solo movies. See, this is what I wasn’t looking forward to…Solo NOT being played by Harrison Ford! Buuut a feature length film starring Fett will probably make up for it.
3. LAST OF US REVIEW [video]
IGN gets to play the upcoming third-person-post-apocalyptic-zombie-smuggler game. At E3 this looked great, now it looks amazing!
1. RIP CANADIAN PENNY [TheProvince.com]
Today marks the first official day of the penny’s demise. What are you going to do with your leftovers?
2. KING RICHARD III FOUND! [LAtimes]
Yup, you know that King that you read about? Turns out his bones were found underneath a parking lot. More accurately the site where an ancient church once stood, is now buried under our feet…creepy…
3. KAYAPO UNDER SIEGE [Official]
This has been floating around a lot, and I don’t know ALL the details, but I know rather than say nothing I’ll keep the conversation going and hopefully truth is found and help is given…
4. HALO ON STEAM? [IGN.com]
Apparently Valve has registered for three Halo titles to become a part of the Steam community. While last week it was reported that this meant the games were finally coming to PC, now it’s going back to just a strong rumor (would be a sweet one!)
Not a lot stood out to me at this years event. Lots of TV’s, peripherals stating they would be the next “3D experience” or “virtual experience”. Mostly just the same ol’ from companies I don’t really care about. Here are (the only) three things that caught my attention…
1. Lenovo Table PC [Mashable]
This is the only product that could make me purchase a Windows PC. I love the idea of having a fully intractable device that can be used for different purposes for different means. Table, tablet, computer, boardgames, canvas…looks fun!
2. Piston [IGN video]
I’m kind of sad that this only got the spotlight because it ended up NOT being something affiliated with Valve (and the rumored “steambox” console they’re working on).
3. MS Illumiroom [IGN video]
I agree entirely with IGN critics. I think this is a great idea for ambience, but hate the idea of having my game extend beyond the screen. The ONLY way I’d find that practical is if you’re entire room was devoted to gaming…meaning…no bookshelves, or other surfaces for the “screen” to get messed up on. But then at that point, why not just strap on a VR helmet?
1. HAPPY 50th BDAY SPIDEY [IGN]
2012 is the year Peter Parker turns 50yrs old (he looks great for his age!) IGN is celebrating by going over their 25 greatest storylines.
2. WoW MONOPOLY [battle.net]
A new version of the popular boardgame featuring the characters of Azeroth is now available…I’m so getting this!
3. PORTAL TAUGHT IN SCHOOLS [Kotaku]
A new program called “Steam for Schools” is teaming up the puzzle solving game with teachers - brilliant!
