2013: Day 124

Today the force was with me…

After working lastnight’s concert got me tucked in at around 3AM, my body jolted me out of bed at 6AM (thinking I was late for work) *yaaay*
3hrs of sleep later, I grabbed a team of students and we set out to clean the ditches (again) in Winkler to raise money for The Bunker! Super tired, super fun :)
Small lunch with the mother, and a solid pedal with the dude. Then showered up, made myself a toasted bacon sandwich, snagged some beer, and setup for tonight’s nerdiness.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT…today was StarWars Day, Free Comicbook Day, aaand it’s the release weekend of IronMan3 (which I’m seeing tomorrow). SO I grabbed some free issues of “Guardians Of The Galaxy” using Marvels iPad app, made some ‘zza, downloaded a bunch of SNES roms, and popped in Episodes 1+5. Perfect bro night!

1. ABRAMS + VALVE = HALIFE? [IGN.com]
At today’s DICE summit JJ and VALVe head Gabe Newell hit the stage to talk about how they both hope to one day collaborate on videogames AND movies…

2. MORE STARWARS SPINOFFS [ew.com]
Turns out that Han Solo and Boba Fett will be joining Yoda with their own solo movies. See, this is what I wasn’t looking forward to…Solo NOT being played by Harrison Ford! Buuut a feature length film starring Fett will probably make up for it. 

3. LAST OF US REVIEW [video]
IGN gets to play the upcoming third-person-post-apocalyptic-zombie-smuggler game. At E3 this looked great, now it looks amazing!

1. STARWARS STANDALONE FILMS [/Film]
Disney has confirmed that aside from the release of EpisodeVII they will release several movies based on solo characters, the first of which will be Yoda. If this is another “CloneWarsCGI” movie, I’m okay with it. 

2. DIGIMON REBOOT [FilmThrasher.com]
Not only has Nickalodeon picked up the series, but this 6th season is being called a remake!

3. MAJOR MARVEL MOVIE SPOILERS!!!
News/rumors on the 3 wave of movies is already being released, which undoubtedly gives away plots to the 2nd wave which is only starting (w/ IronMan3) this year…watch at your own risk!!!

2013: Day 24

Another whirlwind day…

Got into work, boss says he’s taking us out for lunch, end up driving 1.5hrs to next city to grab some Mongolian chow. On the way back we get swept up in a blizzard, but still got back in time to eat cheesecake and hot cocoa with students :)

I also started a new class today. Oh, did I forget to mention I signed up for another class (my first one post-college). It’s on understanding adolescence, and after one session I’m already stoked. I’m the youngest one, and only one still deemed as an “adolescent”. The group is made up of a couple moms (who’s children are mostly around my age…) another youth pastor, and us Bunker dudes. It’s nice to have all those different perspectives in the same room. We got to bounce ideas off of each other, and I got to share with a mom how her kid shows her one side of life, and guys like me get to see a completely different side.
Also, one of the ladies turned out to be my dentist from when I was 10!
Overall it just feels good to be fed some knowledge again. I missed twirling my pen in hand while listening to a smarty-pants tell me about life :)

And then…and then! I get home to discover my wild ramblings have come true!
Kay, see, when they announced StarWars7 I told my friends I wasn’t happy, but would fully support it IF they got JJ Abrams on board. And so, it appeaaaars that has happened. Things this nerdily awesome just don’t happy…it’s like when Joss Whedon was named the director of The Avengers!

2013: Day 13

A Perfect Weekend…

Was awoken by friends popping in at noon. Breakfast (coffee, Nutella on toast, and bacon) occurred while listening to lastnight’s newly acquired Title Fight vinyl’s.
After I cleared the driveway of the blizzards mound of snow, I came in to find my roommate was continuing his cleanse. I ended up getting my hands on some manga, a few graphic novels, some StarWars books, an anime artbook, and a couple toys to add to the collection.
Showered, uploaded a bunch of new music, cozied up with the heater and read a bit, when all of a sudden more friends! Popped in a movie and got dinner started (pizza, beer, wings, pretzels, and more coffee!)
Cleaned the house, got in another heater/reading session, and now it’s off to sleep.

Life likes to kick you in the balls, but then there are reminders that God is good.

The D-O-Double G just dropped his name, and picked up “Lion” after recently becoming a Rastafarian. And he’s switching from Rap to Reggae…stoked!  

2. HOBBIT TRILOGY [Guardian.uk]
Yup, the single book that was a two-part movie has now become a trilogy :P

3. THE OLD FREEPUBLIC [IGN.com]
Just like everyone suspected, the Star Wars MMO is going free-to-play this fall. Apart from some limited content that will need a $14.95 a month subscription…but screw that I’ll finally play it now!
