007 SKYFALL [trailer] First Official

I’m not sure how I feel about this new Bond flick. Over the years, as the originators grow further and further away from the franchise, I see it becoming more of a straight forward action series and less of the slick-spy noir.
And with the amount of hype shoved into this one, not to mention the rumors surrounding the future of Craig as James, iiiiii dunno…something is just off.
And am I the only one sick of these “DUN DUN” trailers? I mean c’mon, we get it, the soundtrack/noises is cool BUT the trailers have become more entertaining than the movies themselves! Think of something original!

THE HULK: From Comics to Movies
Who’s sick of studios constantly switching out actors in sequels? It takes away from the vibe and (for me at least) forces me to reissue myself into the universe the Director is trying to portray on screen. For example; Rhodey in IronMan1+2 are two completely different friends of Tony who just happen to have the same name…
The prime example of this is Bruce Banner/Hulk. Whatever your outlook on the three iterations are, they ARE connected…they have to be in order to make the Avengers movie work. The argument of sequel/reboot isn’t what’s important to me though, it’s the question “who fits the role better”.
Checkout the picture at the top, which is taken straight from the comics. You can see Bruce is a skinny, nerdy, pale skinned - whispy haired man who turns into a brawny (pulpy is the word I keep thinking) green monster.
Bruce: Just look at the faces. While Norton looks most like Banner, I think Bana fit the overall look and feel of the scientist. While Ruffalo doesn’t look anything like him…like…what were they thinking for the Avengers???Hulk: Take the head of #1 with the detail of #2 on the body of #3. I see that they were trying to put a bit of the actors into the monster with the CGI, but none of them came as close as the first. Also, “Incredible” was the only movie to really get the chaotic nature of him down.
In the end I think they need to just pick one and stick with it. I don’t care who, but continuity is key if they want the “Avengers” to be a lasting success. What are YOUR thoughts?

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: BLOOD & CHROME [trailer]

The first official sneakpeak of the 2nd BSG spinoff was released at this years WonderCon. At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about this, with this being a prequel-spinoff of a sequel-remake (not to mention that BSG is one of my fav shows) buuut I think it’s growing on me. I like the idea of seeing how the war went down. But there will always be a part of me that cringes at the thought of another “Caprica”

DIE HARD 5
Here is the first pic of John McClane’s son (actor Jai Courtney) during their screentesting. Wait…I thought McClane had a daughter? When did he get a son that old???
The name of the upcoming sequel is “A Good Day To Die Hard” …brilliant

UNDERWORLD: AWAKENING [movie] Review
The 4th instalment in the vampire vs werewolf series adds a new twist; humans. If you were a fan of the 1st, enjoyed the 2nd, and tolerated the 3rd, you’ll find this one to be a breath of fresh air. It feels more organic to see humans battling against monsters (but don’t worry, the Lycans find a way to be real jerks). And *SPOILER ALERT* the switching of Michael for his dish-daughter with Celine as the role of “sidekick” is so needed. I don’t know about you guys but the whole ‘I love Michael and will fight everyone’ gag was getting old. HOWEVER, that being said, the ending of the movie totally sets it up for another family-filled sequel ;)
This is definitely one of my favorite vampire series. Mostly for the vamp/lycan war storyline. And…possibly…because Kate Beckinsale is a total babe. And while I do think this new film was a step in the right direction, I feel like their going the way of so many action flicks: gimmicky special effects *cough*3D*cough* + forgettable characters + filler storyline that always leaves it open for a sequel. As long as they keep adding the epic plot twists that Underworld is known for, I’ll keep seeing them (and so should you)

RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION [trailer]

That’s #5 for those not keeping count.

SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS [movie] Review
I must admit I’m a little behind on my holiday blockbusters this year. I have three to watch this week before doing my Top5, and another 2 that are just now coming out! Anyway, off we go…
While I must admit when #1 was released I waited until DVD to watch it; I didn’t think much of another Hollywood remake, let alone one that had no modern relevance. Luckily I found it charming, action packed, and overall delightful. And lucky for all of us, the sequel doesn’t stray from the good stuff. It’s a feel-good sequel (for someone such as myself) in which I mean that it feels like we’re watching the next step in the journey. Not like one of those sequels that has nothing to do with the first, or, tries so hard to be up-to-date that it leaves the original in the dust.Downey makes you want to be a better person, trusty Watson becomes a much stronger character, and it’s nice to see Noomi Repace get in the spotlight now that “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” is also hitting theaters (she starred in the original Swedish film that America has cheapened with a remake). There’s not much to say about the story; it’s compelling, action packed, and full of little nuances you must pay attention to. It’s the little things that make the show. And the ending, oh the ending *muah* sheer genius!
