THE AVENGERS [trailer] SUPERBOWL XLVI
SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS [movie] Review
I must admit I’m a little behind on my holiday blockbusters this year. I have three to watch this week before doing my Top5, and another 2 that are just now coming out! Anyway, off we go…
While I must admit when #1 was released I waited until DVD to watch it; I didn’t think much of another Hollywood remake, let alone one that had no modern relevance. Luckily I found it charming, action packed, and overall delightful. And lucky for all of us, the sequel doesn’t stray from the good stuff.
It’s a feel-good sequel (for someone such as myself) in which I mean that it feels like we’re watching the next step in the journey. Not like one of those sequels that has nothing to do with the first, or, tries so hard to be up-to-date that it leaves the original in the dust.
Downey makes you want to be a better person, trusty Watson becomes a much stronger character, and it’s nice to see Noomi Repace get in the spotlight now that “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” is also hitting theaters (she starred in the original Swedish film that America has cheapened with a remake).
There’s not much to say about the story; it’s compelling, action packed, and full of little nuances you must pay attention to. It’s the little things that make the show. And the ending, oh the ending *muah* sheer genius!
