Coffee & Multitasking v.91
“While I Was Away” Edition
1. ACTA [info]
Even I couldn’t get away from the tweets about SOPA’s predecessor. I did my part by sharing a few helpful links, but honestly I was on vacation so I didn’t look into it.
2. RES EVIL 6 [IGN]
The next game in my favorite zombie-shooter series released a trailer! Stoked!
3. WINTER X GAMES 2012 [footage]
Not as cool as the summer edition, but, the first ever snowmobile frontflip was pulled, that’s rad!
4. TV SHOWS IN DANGER [IGN]
Might be canceled; Terra Nova, House, Fringe, Community, CSI Miami (and more)
Not coming back; Chuck, Desperate House Wives, One Tree Hill (and more)
5. LOCAL MUSIC [YouTube]
My favorite acoustic cover artist, Elana, posted her take on Bright Eyes “first day of my life”
6. BEFORE WATCHMEN [Wired]
A local tweeter pointed out to me that DC is coming out with a series of prequel-comics, with each member having their own book. I’m happy to hear that co-creator Alan Moore isn’t pleased.
What else happened last week that I haven’t talked about? Favorite stories? Anything geeky?
RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION [trailer]
That’s #5 for those not keeping count.
2012 Blockbust List [click]
This is my attempt to pick 1 movie per month. Again, it’s going to be a year packed with sequels, reboots, remakes, and spinoffs.
January: Underworld 4 February: Ghost Rider 2
March: Hunger Games April: Three Stooges (remake)
May: The Avengers June: Prometheus (Alien prequel)
July: Dark Knight Rises August: Expendables 2
September: Res Evil 5 October: Taken 2
November: Skyfall (Bond) December: The Hobbit (part 1)
Honorable Mentions: MiB3, Snow White & The Huntsman, Abe Lincoln Vamp Killer, SpiderMan (reboot), Bourne Legacy, Total Recall (remake), Dredd (reboot), WWZ,
*The only reason Bourne4 isn’t on there is because Matt Damon won’t be playing the lead. As for World War Z, it’s my favorite book, but it’s going up against The Hobbit…
What are YOUR most anticipated movies for next year???

Gaming in Heaven ‘n Hell…I wonder where Bungie fits in?
Coffee & Multitasking v.41
1. Netflix his the Xbox360
Today! Now if only I could get on Live…
2. R.I.P. G4TV
DirecTV has decided to drop the gaming-station because of poor ratings. Stats show that it’s actually one of the lowest rated stations on the network. Though I don’t watch it (I get the Podcasts, and subscribe to the YouTube channel) it will be sad to see the only gaming-dedicated station laid to rest. I wonder what will happen to Alison, Olivia, and Kevin…

Here’s the bullet-time fighting I was talking about…
tumblr wouldn’t let me attach it in my review :P
Resident Evil: Afterlife [review]
*SPOILER ALERT*
I have several different names for the fourth part in the RE movie series; RE: SlowMo, RE: Industrial Soundtrack, or if you want to get technical; Resident Evil 4 Afterlife 3D. See cause it’s like it’s the fourth RE movie…but Afterlife is….a different….*ahem* yeah, anyway.
I gotta say, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie! I found it to be far superior to the last two installments, while at the same time leaving them both very relevant to the overall story. In a brief recap; RE 2+3, while being good/fun zombie-action flicks, didn’t really give much as far as story…in a sense that it didn’t make you think. The plot twists were crucial, but overall they were just shoot ‘em up style movies that were chasing a story. The first movie scared us, made us think, twisted everything around, and I feel that with this one they finally went the next step.
You really got the feeling that the world had come to an end. We’re off the ground, out of the convoy, and up in the air with Alice exploring the West Coast and finding that there really are no survivors scattered among the ruins. I loved the homage to Romero when she found a group of survivors held up in an abandoned prison, with the entire (zombified) population of LA surrounding it.
Also, this is another movie where you have to watch to the end of the credits…wow…I was blown away! I never thought we would see the return of Jill :) I really like her character, and wanted to know what happened to her after #2.
Another thing to note is that if you hate lots of bullet-time fighting, don’t watch this. A good chunk of your time will be spent watching women fighting or shooting in slow-motion.
Likes: Zombies, obviously. Claire and Chris Redfield teamups. Alice kicking butt as usual. The different style of filming (I didn’t get to see in 3D but the perspective was noticeably different). The Executioner…that dude is scary. The interaction with the new survivors was fun. The fact that they took reference from a lot of the first movie and fifth video game was refreshing. I love that they left it open for a fifth movie, especially after they said this would be the final one!!!
Dislikes: That Alice loses her powers, but can still do things like jump off of a 5 story building while shooting with perfect aim. The fact that the zombies heads were splitting open needed to be explained, in any way, most people won’t know whats going on. I hated that they killed off the “army” of Alice clones in the first five minutes! At the end of Extinction we were shown thousands of them, but in the great battle between Alice and Umbrella we’re only shown 10…ripoff!
Resident Evil: Afterlife [trailer]
Sorry for not posting this earlier, got distracted with homework :P
What I like about it - I heard that this movie was trying to recapture the horror of #1 with the action of #3; from what I saw of the trailer it looks like they’ve done a pretty good job. The zombies looked legit, not crazy falling apart CG creations. I like that they introduced a new female character…Alice tends to play better as a character when there’s another female around for some reason. And the Tyrant! WOW! He looks so crazy, I can’t wait to see that showdown…he was standing like 5 feet taller than the girls! Laspoint…the guy in the shades…same guy from the very ending of Res3…Wesker…YES!!!
What I didn’t like - Their going after the whole 3D genre…why? The first 3 aren’t in 3D, and now their boasting that this movie is made with the best 3D technology out there, apparently better than even Avatar (claiming they used James Camerons tech and made it better, pfft). And all the slow-mo sequences of them throwing or shooting at the cam…lame! Just give me girls with guns killing zombies, THAT’s a ResE movie.
Thoughts - The outdoor industrial scenes remind me of Code:Veronica. The shot of the two Alice’s jumping/shooting out the window are straight out of The Matrix. This shot leads me to believe that Alice has spent her time since the last movie stalking up a MAJOR supply cache:
And this shot makes me think….AAAAH NOOOO WHAAAAAT:
Verdict - Pumped for this movie, duh!
*EDIT*
Just watched IGN’s review of the trailer, which revealed some key points I missed out on:
1. The person I thought was a new female character is in fact Claire Redfield, being played again by Ali Larter (of the 3rd film)
2. In the scene with Wesker’s red eyes you can see Claire with her brother Chris (new to the movie franchise)
3. The new axe-wielding tyrant is straight out of Res5 (game(
4. I completely forgot to mention the Lagos (is that how its spelled) infected zombie…the one with the huge/weird 4way opening mouth. That is from the new saga of ResEvil which started in #4 of the game series, in an attempt to get away from the slower moving zombies the creators are now into a whole new genre of infection.
5. Forgot to mention the rumor going around that Jill Valentine will also be making an appearance in this movie (she’s from #2).
Resident Evil 5 [Gold]
No, I still haven’t played this game yet! It sucks, ‘cause I’m one of the biggest ResE fans I know (besides maybe Tyler Reitze), and yet somewhere among all the new releases, WoW quests, and school work, I completely lost track of this game.
Res4 was one of my favorite games of all time, and I loved what they did with the series - taking it from still cam to over the shoulder - so I can’t wait to experience #5.
So why am I talking about this? Because Capcom just release a ‘Gold Version’ of the game, complete with ALL the downloadable content already pre-loaded to the disc!!!
Thus, it has once again joined my “game calendar”, somewhere after MassEffect2 and before Halo:Reach haha

![Resident Evil 4: Afterlife [movie]
FINALLY screenshots of the new sequel have been released. I don’t care that they don’t actually follow the RE story at all, they add something new and great to the universe.](http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l07vyyVgW71qzzuj8o1_500.jpg)
