BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: BLOOD & CHROME [trailer]
The first official sneakpeak of the 2nd BSG spinoff was released at this years WonderCon. At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about this, with this being a prequel-spinoff of a sequel-remake (not to mention that BSG is one of my fav shows) buuut I think it’s growing on me. I like the idea of seeing how the war went down. But there will always be a part of me that cringes at the thought of another “Caprica”
And the trailers keep coming…
PROMETHEUS [teaser] Trailer
Ever wonder how one of the biggest alien-movie franchises (ever) started? Brace yourselves. Ridley Scott is back.
RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES [movie] Review
*SPOILER ALERT*
Essentially this movie could have been called 28 Days Later: What Happened After the First Scene…
Let me explain, with a long-winded explanation. I appreciate the steps they took to make the battle between the apes and humans more “realistic” than the 60’s predecessors, however, in taking those steps (the main one being adding a virus that kills humans and makes apes smarter) they turned the movie into a virus movie, not the sci-fi monster-ish story it was meant to be. It reminded me of how in the virus/zombie movie “28 Days” a man made virus used on monkeys is let lose and destroys humanity, but after the first scene where a monkey attacks someone, you never see the monkeys again…enter “Rise” (haha).
I love James Franco (one of my top10 fav actors) and it was nice to see him in a smart-starring role. However I feel like his relationship with Caesar took away from the raw hatred the ape had, something needed to take over an entire planet.
This COULD fit into the original saga, somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd movies, what with time travel being a factor. Caesar’s birth and rise is somewhat similar, and could run as the original storyline until the 3rd movie’s time travel created an alternate storyline…
See it, but, be sure to go back and watch the original 5 “of the Apes” movies.
*EDIT*
It’s the next day, I’m having a “Planet of the Apes” marathon, and just noticed that Charlton Heston’s character is referred to as “bright eyes” when he’s caged by the apes…reverse role from Caesar in “Rise”.
REAL or FAKE
This photo is being circulated around the web today. It’s a promo for the new X-Men movie (obviously) however many, if not most, are saying it’s shopped. While geek giants like i09 are stating that it’s real…what do YOU think?
Either way, this IS the real cast, and their characters are as follows (left to right):
Michael Fassbender (Magneto) Rose Byrne (Moira MacTaggert) January Jones (Emma Frost) Jason Flemyng (Azazel) Nicholas Hoult (Beast) Lucas Till (Havok) Zoe Kravitz (Angel) Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) and James McAvoy (Professor Charles Xavier)
My 2 cents; Just like I said in my previous Spider-Man post…
Marvel is getting further and further away from what makes their comics great (which is continuity) in a weak attempt to measure up to the “gritty realism” that DC has displayed with it’s new Batman series. Why is Angel, a male character who wasn’t “birthed” until the 3rd movie, now in the prequel…and a girl??!!! Why is Havok there, but no Cyclops? How are we supposed to take Betty Draper seriously as Emma Frost :P
To stoke the fire here is another costume shot from the upcoming Captain America movie…everyone loves it…I think putting the Human Torch in red, white, and blue is a joke.
