HALO NEWS: The Halo Channel

:: From Gamescom’14, 343 just made a hefty announcement! What is being described as an update to Waypoint (which, let’s face it…was starting to get a lil useless). Record matches, compare stats, online boards/forums, exclusive release of the new show “Nightfall” (based around Agent Locke…featured in Halo5), and a ton of other features to unlock while playing!

DESTINY Beta [review]
:: I got into it on it’s final day, but spent 8hrs getting to know as much as I could - Able to level all three classes/races to lvl4, try my hand at PvP, get my speeder, and roam around long enough to get decimated by the “??” level mobs hidden underground… Note: I was playing on my X360 (opting to wait for a XOne until the game’s release)Verdict: It’s the beautiful game I’ve been waiting for! It lived up to my anticipation as being a Halo-style game crossbread with PSO quality MMORPG aspects. The controls were smooth, easy, and accurate. For my fellow WoW players, the ability to “mount” is a little tedious, having to click ‘back’ then hold ‘x’ for a second. But you get used to it right away. In fact, having to hold buttons to activate situations is one of my favorite things about the game. It adds, with the cursor on some menus, to the whole RPG vibe. What I mean is; there are times when you’re gunning around , that you forget you’re not playing Halo. Then you jump to a convo menu (with a barter of sorts), or you pop up your Ghost menu, and the way you have to navigate brings you back to the grand scale that MMO’s are meant to have. Speaking of the Ghost; I don’t understand why so many people complained a month ago…he’s amazing! One of the things that Bungie brought to gaming was the companion issue - whereas CoD has annoying pop ups every two seconds telling you how to perform functions that are insanely trivial - here we have your Ghost (Peter Dinklage) guiding, but not laying out, what you have to do. It doesn’t take away, which is the most important thing. Just another layer of depth… With other FPS’ in mind, I was playing Titanfall during the down/maintenance times. The thought that ran through my head over and over was “this whole run’n gun multiplayer-only genre that CoD has created is really played out…” Destiny feels like the next step in gaming. It feels like it’s showing us a direction that we could head to. Away from senselessly jumping from match to match, and actually allowing ourselves to be immersed in an experience. Now, of course, any RPG’er will say “duh” but…Bungie is doing what it is known for; creating something that takes the known, and shows you an entirely new way of looking at it! What it did to the FPS and multiplayer world with Halo, it will do to the MMO world with Destiny. I haven’t even gotten into the characters themselves! Sheesh…Right now I’m siding with Hunters, which is odd. I pegged myself as a Warlock, with the guns and the magic and the pew pew pew. But Hunters have so much control over some awesome weaponry! I forgot my go-to for RGP’s is long distance attacks (I’m a balance druid in WoW). So I spent most of the beta looking down a scope picking up clean headshots! And while the androids look awesome, and the Awaken have cool hair, I ended up making a human that looks like…well…me. I’m one of those gamers. There wasn’t a toke of social interaction, other than busting out sick dance moves in the tower. Though I had a helpful Titan join up when I was ambushed with a Public Event. PS: The first time I ran into a PE was I sold! The fact that anyone can jump into this on-the-spot instance is thrilling! Hold your spot, kill the enemies, beat the timer, and be rewarded with loot! I felt like I had accomplished something…like…not just another quest. It pulls you out of your “here we go” head space, and demands that you live the game…not just play it! I’m at that point where I could go on and on, so I’ll just say that if you’ve been a sceptic up to this point, just allow yourself to dive in! As for which console, I don’t care…the exclusive bundle is going to Sony, but I’m picking up the xOne to continue the Halo franchise…

"CHIEF vs CAP" by Super Power Beat Down!

:: If you guys don’t know about this Machinima show yet, you’re welcome! It may seem like a cheesy idea at first, but these aren’t halloween costumes. My only complaints; Cap would never behead someone with his shield, and the MC would most definitely win!

HALO: Spartan Assault [Xbox360]

:: I know it’s been out on tablets for like, 8 months. And you Xboners have already played, conquered, and uploaded ‘lets play’ videos. AND I was away when it was finally released for the 360. But…the day…has finally…come.
haha that seems a bit dramatic. But for real, I get equally excited for every Halo release. I just can’t wait to see how this ties the series together! I work tonight, and don’t have plans tomorrow (that I can remember) so this is my Vday present to myself *muah*

PS: Consider this my review ;P

HAPPY 5YRS N00BS!!!
:: This month marks a long friggin time that my friends and I have committed to pwning pixels. And no, we’re not a clothing company!

HALO UPDATE: Spartan Assault

:: Looks like Halo is finally testing the waters of handheld gaming. Smart, but I’m bummed we won’t see it on any iOS devices (fans remember that CE originally saw a brief life on Mac devices). This looks fun though! Kinda looks like Halo:Wars without the RTS component…very touch-screen-gamey.
