:: Two weeks in…
Spent the morning in Morden; saying goodbye to one-half of my BC family, by taking her out to breakfast (I’m on a real hollandaise sauce kick). Then off to the highschool for lunch with some students for a short bible study.
My afternoon was spent doing what I’ve been doing a lot of lately; reflecting on what is influencing my life and how it affects my influence on others. Flashforward - my evening was spent with my friend Chris, smoking pipes and sharing in the conversation that I was having alone in my head all afternoon…
It was a lot of fun making taco’s for dudes at The B today. Follow that up with some AoE2 and you’ve got yourself the perfect after-school special! But 4pm taco’s definitely led to 10pm noodles, which will probably lead to 7am gut rot. Oh and my hips hurt. And I’ve strained my neck twice this week. Did I mention I’m 58?
The highlight of the day definitely goes to getting my thrifted iMacG3 up and running while watching the new Steve Jobs bio that’s on Netflix! It’s running OSX Panther, which I’ve never used before. My first Apple computer was loaded with Tiger. Needless to say I’m very stoked to tinker with it - exceeept - that I can’t get it online for some reason. Anyone know how to connect this ancient software to my network?
:: Today was quite a refreshing day…
After a couple weeks of -50 weather, I opened my front door to sunshine and crisp air. You know everything from that point on will be splendid.
By now, the cat’s out of the bag that my super secret mission the other day was to pick up my dearest friend Sheri from Winnipeg. She’s visiting family for a few days from Langley, BC (and I was lucky enough to spend my morning over a cup of coffee with her).
I balanced an afternoon of headache-creating emails by having the Foo Fighters documentary playing in my ear. Really motivating stuff! The 90’s have a way of steering me back to the imaginative kid I was. It helps me deal with writers/speakers block…focus more on what is inside and how to get it out.
THEN my friend Chris shows up with an old iMacG3, for me! What I’ve always kinda wanted :) I spent my evening watching new TopGear and working on making it functional.
Oh, and I beat Bioshock Infinite…yeah….my mind was blown….
PS: If you have an old iMac keyboard and/or OS9 operating disc I’ll gladly pay you for them!
:: I got up early, made breakfast, and checked out a new issue of SAGA.
Spent the day at work editing some projects and working on details for upcoming events.
Bergen’s back from America, so we went for Chinese food and caught up. Met up with Tom and Chris, checked out the (two) new episodes of Community Season 5…oh my gosh I’m so glad it’s back!!!
We all went to the theater and saw “the Secret Life of Walter Mitty” and, if I had seen this when it was released, it would be in my Top5 for 2013!
Then we headed back to my place, enjoyed some of Chris’ new pipe tobacco, and chatted about plans for some shelving units and future travel.
All in all, a very creative and inspiring day. I can’t wait to get to work!
:: For the past week my oldest friend has been crashing at my place. He just spent a year living up in Inuvik (North West Territories) and will be shortly heading out to BC. Yup, this is the friend I crashed with in Langley…we’ve known each other since we were 7.
Whenever he comes back home to visit, the old crew will get together. The dudes will give their babies to their wives, barbecue a lot of meat, sip some craft brews, and usually set something on fire.
Tonight was great, it always is. Especially when the silly stories end (usually around midnight) and we start to really share about our lives, One thing that will never change though; with this group I’ll always be the goofy little guy. It’s okay, my opinion just never really gets heard. That’s not a negative…it just helps me really appreciate all the people in my life right NOW that take the time out of their lives to ask me questions, seek my guidance, or just listen to me :)
