Me and @tylerkiros May Long 2012

For the past month SO MANY people kept mistaking me for Tyler on the Kiros poster for The Bunker concert. It got to the point where people were adding ME on Fbook thinking I was him (even his wife almost sent me a message ment for him…)
We decided that people are just focusing on the features, not how we actually look :P
Love you Ty! And all the boys in the band!

MY MAYLONG WEEKEND via IG

1. Kiros, The Color, Stone Throw Second, and Warship shredded The Bunker’s stage
2. Stayed up late to watch a triple feature at the drive-in
3. BBQ’d with friends at the new house
4. Spent a rainy day inside with Diablo 3

After a Bajillion Years, WinkCity is FINALLY Getting a Skatepark [click here]

It has to be close to a decade that my friends Eric and Phil have been working to build our City a permanent skatepark. Honestly I was starting to think it was never going to happen, after so many rumors it was becoming somewhat of a myth. I am SO stoked, and we are SO blessed, to have a team like theirs that is so dedicated to the community!

God bless you dudes. I can’t wait to see what comes next :)

MY [college] GRAD PARTY

or

THE FAIRLY ODD FOLK Return to The Bunker

Long story short, my school messed up on my invite to the banquet, so I decided to throw my own shindig for my family and friends. Luckily Lauren Mann & The Fairly Odd Folk were in town. Throw in a bunch of talented Manitoba musicians, and a ton of food, and you’ve got yourself a good ol’ time!

HUGE thanks to everyone that participated in the potluck; I wouldn’t have wanted to finish off the school year any other way :)

If you live in Winkler, MB and enjoy a good pedal…
The organization I work with (The Bunker) has teamed up with my friends cafe (Jonny’s Java) and a local business (Country Cycle) to start what we hope will become a great way to unite the community, promote healthy living, and endorse homegrown economy!
Starting this summer (most likely June) we will be hosting different weekly events for any/all cyclists. Your range, goal, and ability doesn’t matter; the idea being that you and a friend join up…meet new people…and pedal alongside others that are on the same level as you.
Right now it’s being put together mainly by myself and my friend Jeff (same name!) off the groups Facebook Page. So if you have any questions about dates, riding times, membership, etc. contact us individually or leave a comment on the Groups Wall.

Dr Marchand and Myself at Grad [Prov 2012]
For those of you that have heard me talk about a man named Gord being the catalyst of my faith, this man would be the academic equivalent. He was the only professor to walk beside me through my three years of classes at Providence. At times I hated him for piling on so much work, while loving him for challenging me and pushing me to become something greater. He helped me achieve my best, while sticking around to put up with my worst. I told him I wouldn’t get emotional at the ceremony, but I’m okay with getting sappy in saying that God hooked me up with more than just a teacher.
Thanks Chris

RE-OPENING: The Morning After
via Instagram [@hebb]

I forgot how awesome it feels to sleep in the morning after a concert at theB. Voice still horse from having to shout over the bands. Feel sore from running around. Coffee tasting like heaven after staying up til 4AM.
Nothing went wrong last night. And I can’t believe how many lovely faces showed up to support us (thank you). I hope people had fun, and I hope people take advantage of this new place to socialize in WinkCity. We’re open everyday, in some capacity, so come down and bring some friends.

1. Outside looking in our new loading door
2. Allagarth shredding the stage at our first concert
3. Entrance into our new game-room
4. Thanks Domino’s for making our stomachs happy (again)

When I first started going to The B ( a little over 12yrs ago ) there were these drinks called “shrapnels”. We would drink them while attending “the Grind”. Several years later it was “mocktails” at “U Turn”. Nowadays we drink “Jones” while I of all people lead a Bible Study…

Jonny’s Java: The First Store

Not a lot of JJ fans know that there have been previous “locations” where one could grab a cup (or bag) of bean and/or leaf water.
I remember, years ago, having to go directly to ol’ Jon’s house. His closet would be stocked high with bags of coffee beans that had been roasted in Winnipeg. After Andy joined the team they had a mini-kitchen setup in his basement, where my friends and I would often spend weekends watching movies and sampling different drinks.
The mall store marked several occasions; the “legitimacy” of the company, the fruition of a dream, and start of a town-wide movement. Since it’s opening I’ve had remarkable conversations with WinkCity dwellers whose idea of what the City should “be” have…grown up…would be the best way to describe it.
I’m making a big deal about it, because these are some of my oldest friends. And while this chapter of their lives has closed to focus on another, their success in it means a lot to me!
