MY [college] GRAD PARTY

or

THE FAIRLY ODD FOLK Return to The Bunker

Long story short, my school messed up on my invite to the banquet, so I decided to throw my own shindig for my family and friends. Luckily Lauren Mann & The Fairly Odd Folk were in town. Throw in a bunch of talented Manitoba musicians, and a ton of food, and you’ve got yourself a good ol’ time!

HUGE thanks to everyone that participated in the potluck; I wouldn’t have wanted to finish off the school year any other way :)

RE-OPENING: The Morning After
via Instagram [@hebb]

I forgot how awesome it feels to sleep in the morning after a concert at theB. Voice still horse from having to shout over the bands. Feel sore from running around. Coffee tasting like heaven after staying up til 4AM.
Nothing went wrong last night. And I can’t believe how many lovely faces showed up to support us (thank you). I hope people had fun, and I hope people take advantage of this new place to socialize in WinkCity. We’re open everyday, in some capacity, so come down and bring some friends.

1. Outside looking in our new loading door
2. Allagarth shredding the stage at our first concert
3. Entrance into our new game-room
4. Thanks Domino’s for making our stomachs happy (again)

When I first started going to The B ( a little over 12yrs ago ) there were these drinks called “shrapnels”. We would drink them while attending “the Grind”. Several years later it was “mocktails” at “U Turn”. Nowadays we drink “Jones” while I of all people lead a Bible Study…

A night of history.

Daily Thoughts…
- Today started off so rough. Heartburn, an awkward meeting, and hot coffee spilled in my lap. - It ended rough too; icey/slush highways mixed with heavy snow fall and douchebag drivers resulted in a 2hr drive home. - BUT my dad turned 61, and we had a lovely family dinner, where I got to wrestle with my rad nephew…- AND my 3yrs of college showed some payoff. It hasn’t hit me yet, and is so big that I almost can’t believe it’s coming together…
At the end of the day, I am so utterly blessed. And I built a desk :)

THE COLLEGE CREW(left to right)
Mr Sawaya “big pappa”The dad of the group. Always happy, or filled with rage, both emotions are so similar you can’t tell the difference. He’s always been there when school was at it toughest.
Beargen “bff”When I started college a lot of friends either dropped me from their lives or acted like I didn’t exist. He hiked up his big boy pants and quickly went from being a new friend to one of my favorite people.
Spencer “the cute one” (top)Each year the role of 4th wheel to our vehicle of learning has been filled by a babyface who eventually leaves us for a girl. Honorable mention: McCaskell
Me “the _____” (fill in the blank)I’ve had the honor of living with, studying with, and sharing this crucial part of my life with some of the most amazing people ever. But these men pictured above are what I’ll remember from my days in college. For any of my Turner House mates; you should know that I almost dropped out my first year, but you men and women kept me motivated! And for the lovely Screpnek family; allowing me to share your house with you was a heart warming experience. Thank you.

A Holiday Week of Feasts…

I’ve got two groups of friends; my boys that I’ve known virtually my whole life, and the crew that I’ve recently gained through work/school. The best part about being me over the holidays is that both groups have an annual “family” gathering to ensure that everyone gets to see everyone whilst we’re all in one place at the same time.
This year, my boys put together a “Very Merry Dudesmas” to celebrate being men. Fine cheeses, meats, bread, wine, cigars, cognac, hockey, and pwning n00bs (haha). And the latter crew opted for a more traditional turkey dinner with all the fixens; eggnog, a bacon pile, wings, taco salad, Christmas cookies, stuffing, and all of us promptly falling asleep around a zombie movie.
This year was extra special, in that I was able to host both parties :) buuut now after 3 days of partying and eating…my body hates me, my sleep schedule is all thrown off, and I have a very messy house to clean.

Happy Holidays everyone!
