R.I.P. Cornerstone Music Festival
I’m sitting in my office, working on tonight’s Bible Study (at The Bunker) when in walks Larry, the Director of Altona’s YFC.
Amidst the conversation he drops the bomb on me; “did you hear that this years Cstone will be the last one ever?” I jumped on the website, read the news, and sank down in my chair…my happiest place on Earth will be no more…
If you don’t know what Cornerstone Fest is; it’s been the largest North American Christian Music Festival since 1984. Among it’s techno warehouse, art village, and hard hitting (world famous) speakers, it was THE place to see your favorite bands all on one stage.
Underoath, Norma Jean, Haste the Day, Means, NIV, David Crowder, P.O.D., and thousands more. Each year tens of thousands of people would cram onto the monstrous fair grounds for the week long event to mosh, dance, hug, sing, swim, share, and praise.
I was lucky enough to experience it for the first time as my highschool grad party, and continued to go for several years after. When I say that it was my happiest place on Earth I mean that, no where else that I’ve ever been to ever made me feel as happy as Cstone did. To me it was the best literal/physical translation of “Heaven on Earth”.
I’ll be posting pics from my visits on Fbook and I’d love it if those of you who have experienced it could share your thoughts/memories in a reply, reblog, or comment.
Below is the first video I ever posted online. It’s my friends in Means performing at the 2007 Cornerstone event.
You can’t call Jesus your Lord when you refuse to obey Him.
JESUS FOLLOWER vs CHRISTIAN
A coworker shared this today; it combines my two favorite things (Jesus/Apple) to get a point across. There have always been those fanatics that feel they need to shout their message at you while cramming it down your throat. Unfortunately this gives people the wrong impression as to what Christianity is.
I’m a Christian, a follower of Jesus, but you will never see me picketing street corners or screaming at people that they are something horrible. We’re ALL screwed up and it’s only through LOVE that a message of truth can be properly conveyed. It’s then up to the individual whether they want to listen to that message or not…it’s not my ministry to make them listen. Just like everything else in life we’ve been given the power of free-will, the ability to make a choice.
CHRISTMAS EVE 2011
So glad Christmas is on the weekend this year :) I spent today grabbing some last minute gifts, saying goodbye to my favorite barista Kstud, and getting pretty dapper for tonight’s Church pageant…followed by an intense family dinner (my stooomach).
I’m in love with this coat, mostly because of the anchor buttons [closeup]
Also, my friends Eden and Beargen are helping me become a true gentleman with their fine gifts of; a pipe, mustache wax, and the first 3 books in the Harry Potter series.
Sweet ‘stache twirl [here] I just need to keep growing it out…

The lovely people from MB Church decided to make us an obscene amount of chili and pudding! It was a total hit with both staff and students, our huge thanks to go out to everyone who was involved :)
just one week left…
