MARVEL HEROES: First Official Trailer
Finally something concrete on the upcoming Diablo-style MMO from my favorite comicbook franchise! At first I heard rumors that this would be a full open-world sandbox style MMORPG (in the shadow of WoW) but I think since the overrated success of StarWars:TOR studios are realizing it’s better to try something new rather than battle a giant.
Now I’ll have to quickly play through Ultimate Alliance 2 to get myself up to speed; it looks like this will be the same style of game, following the escapades of the Teseract…the powerful cube we’re introduced to from the movies. Cross-media storytelling is my favorite!

I’ve had my iPad for a solid year now, and my friend Carl just bought his, so I thought it’d be interesting to share what I believe to be the top Apps for my favorite Apple product.
PRODUCTIVITY
iWork: This includes Pages, Numbers, and Keynote ($9 each)
Moleskine: A really nice, clean, simple note-taking App for those who enjoy physically writing stuff out but want to use the iPad to save space. (free)
*I mostly use the pre-loaded Notes app for jotting things down, it has the great built-in feature of emailing your notes to you once you’ve finished writing to help you not forget.
Remote: An Apple sanctioned App that lets you control synced iTunes with your iPad. (free)
Nightstand: A great alarm clock, with tons of built in features. (free)

*i also use iBooks, but it’s Canadian store is virtually empty
Flipboard: My favorite source for daily news. It takes websites, your Facebook newsfeed, and even Tweets, and organizes them in a neat magazine style layout. (was $9 - now free apparently)
Marvel: I used to be a huge comicbook junkie, and have picked up the habit again since downloading this app. With individual comics priced at $1.99 how can you go wrong!? (free)
*there is a DC app with same prices for fans of that universe
EDITING
PS Express: Made for the iPhone, but just as helpful for minor on-the-go photo edits. (free)
VIDEOS
Netflix: Get real, who doesn’t use this? (free)
Crackle: Like Nflix, but for those shows/movies that we loved and then forgot about (free)

HOUSE OF M [comic] Review
I did this backwards, read Civil War before M, but oh well. It was explained to me as being one of (if not the) biggest event for Marvel Comics. I don’t know if I agree with that, but from the perspective of the mutant-society, I would say the repercussions have greater impact than anything else.
For anyone that is into where Marvel has brought their heroes these days it’s a must-read. Avengers has their “age of heroes” X-Men their “schism” even Fantastic Four and Spider Man have now teamed up (with the death of Torch) and all of it stems from House of M.
To sum up the 8 part series; Scarlet Witch (Magneto’s daughter) turns on the Avengers, loses control of her powers, and creates an alternate reality. Only a few heroes know the truth, and wage battle against the family of Magnus in an attempt to save Prof X and return the world to normal. In the end, Witch unleashes her powers in a last ditch effort that results in roughly 95% of the mutant population losting their powers. This of course makes things unsettling with humans, which sparks the Civil War series…
It’s a fun/short read for anyone that enjoys seeing massive hero-teamups. Definitely weird to see characters like Wolverine in charge of SHIELD, and refreshing to see someone like Peter Parker showing a more intense, less quirky, side.
Now I’m gonna dive into “Age of Apocalypse” and wait/hope that they port the “Onslaught” series into the iPad store.
It’s back, and it’s pumping out more nerdy excitement than ever…

X-MEN:FIRST CLASS [movie] Review
*Spoiler Alert*
Thankfully all my previous thoughts on how awful this movie was going to be were smashed. It was a fantastic Marvel movie, that had a lot of X Men characters…
I word it like that, because much like X Men 3 we’re given another movie that threw in as many mutants as possible, went horribly off course from the comics, changed characters entire life-stories, but delivered a very entertaining bit of comic-movie cinema. It definitely ranks up there with Iron Man and SpiderMan in my books, but still feels like it’s taking place in a different universe from #’s 1+2…which sucks because this is supposed to be a prequel, not a reboot.
The cameo’s from Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) and Rebecca Romijn (original Mystique) definitely added to the overall story arch, added laughs, and made me feel more at home with the movie. But doing things like making Mystique and Prof X adopted bro ‘n sis were horrible ideas (much like NOT making Juggernaut and Prof X bro’s in #3). Oh and by the way, writers, killing one of the coolest new-mutants in the movie, really!?? I get that he can adapt to anything thereby making a battle irrelevant…but c’mon!
The fight sequences and use of mutant abilities were/was exactly what fans have been waiting for, and WERE’NT delivered with any of the previous “X” movies. The CGI was clean, smooth, and added rather than taking away. For example the whole submarine, battleship, beach scene…perfect!
Something I found to be really beautiful was how Erik spent the whole movie trying to kill Shaw, only to reveal that he wants the exact same mutant vs man war, but kills him for the simplistic (if you can call it that) matter of Shaw murdering Eriks mother. Then, in a very epic sequence, picks up the helmet and truly becomes Magneto…
Definitely go see it, and don’t sit behind the dork with the huge head that I was stuck behind :P
Homework + no sleep = coffee at night!

Not a lot of good news in the media today; 3 deaths and some awful movie approvals. From TV; Gary Coleman passed away yesterday, from film; Dennis Hopper, and from music; the bass player of Slipknot (sorry don’t know his name).
And once again out of Hollywood, tons of franchises are being rebooted, respun, rehashed, and puked back out onto the public…
Young Prof X in X-Men movie reboot:
From the director of Kick A$$ with the star of Wanted, Fox Studios is going through with their intent on having an X-Men prequel on in early 2011. It’s set to be an origins story…sooo I’m guessing this will be called simply X-Men Origins, or X-Men Origins: Xavier???

*EDIT*
Thanks @danie-gee for pointing out that I’m a moron and forgot they already chose the name X-Men: First Class…which is still lame.
Flash, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman might get movies after all:
DC is coming around on the idea of having all their main characters star in blockbuster movies…meh.

Michael Bay set to ruin TMNT:
Who keeps letting Bay make movies? Seriously! First he had to destroy the Transformers, not to mention the horrific force of Megan Fox that he unleashed on the Earth. Now he has to destroy one of the most sacred memories of my childhood? Nothing is safe…
